Electrical Outlet Mistakes

on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 06:00

After arriving at a condominium remodeling project in Lauderdale by the Sea, I discovered that the kitchen and bath designer had placed a GFCI receptacle in the bathroom not required by building code. The blueprints had already been submitted to the building department and approved. This condominium was not originally wired in conduit making the access difficult to install the 20 amp seperate circuit GFCI receptacle. The kitchen contractor has a choice, install the receptacle for $275 as shown on the plans, plus drywall costs, patching and painting costs or pay $75 to the Lauderale by the Sea building department to revise the blueprints.

The kitchen contractor chose to revise the blueprints and save money. These unexpected expenses can be avoided when an experienced Fort Lauderdale electrician like myself reviews blueprints before submitting to the building departments.

I am happy to review blueprints ahead of submission to the building departments, to save money for my clients.
